Local Business and Community Leader,
Tony Sarwar, Announces His Candidacy for Alderman

Fiscal Conservative
The
Sarwar name is well known and highly respected in the Collierville community.
Known for the award winning dining establishments in Collierville, La Hacienda,
Su Casa, and Fino Villa,
Tony Sarwar
has been a long time community supporter and business leader. His involvement includes
community programs such as
Leadership Collierville, Page Robbins Adult Day Care Center,
Main Street Collierville, Collierville Rotary, numerous
Collierville Chamber
of Commerce committees, as well as serving as a Commissioner for
Collierville
Town Beautiful.
His involvement extends beyond committees into the very
foundation of the
Collierville community. From providing food for Project Graduation to hosting fund
raising events for Collierville United Methodist Church Youth in Missions trip to
Mexico, Tony is
committed to step up when a need arises in Collierville.
It is in this spirit of commitment that
Tony Sarwar announces his candidacy for
Town of Collierville Position
3 Alderman. Sarwar stated, “This decision has been a very humbling
experience. I’ve had such an out flowing of support from friends, family and community
leaders.” Sarwar continued, “I’m
thrilled
at the opportunity to share a
fresh vision for the Town of Collierville.”
Sarwar elaborated that one of his goals is to be a voice for not just his
fellow business leader but all the citizens of Collierville. “All of our residents
and business owners are share holders in this community.
Tony would
like to lead a resurgence of the
Town Square
including surrounding areas by revitalizing the residential and business districts
and preserving the Town’s unique heritage.
Shifting Collierville towards a more
environmentaly
“
green” community is another goal of
Sarwar. “It’s important to look
at alternatives for our water issues,” he stated. “Reducing the water bill may not
be the only avenue. We must look at conservation. Water is quickly becoming the
new oil.”
Sarwar proposes addressing current and future issues facing the community
with fresh and innovative approaches instead of taxes or fees. This includes using
existing and underused resources such as state and federal assistance.
Community safety and service is a top priority for
Tony. The
Police and Fire departments are in need of stronger support to
better protect and serve the town. A fresh review of the needs of all town staff
is called for as well. This is not just salary or funding adjustments but also tools
and training. Community servants are not just workers but have a commitment to the
community as a whole.
